Unpredictable and vigorous Kristina Ka became a new member of the band. If you still haven't seen a renewed Sur than it's a must for you to visit our upcoming shows! With Kristina the band has gained new aesthetics, presentation and different sounding. Besides her violin has become an integral part of our musical canvas. Now we are working hard at absolutely new stuff and conception in order to appear completely perfect in a new season. 15.05.07 SURfacing After a long lasting lull the band will finaly appear in public to present a renewed staff. The courtain will fall 23.05.07 01.03.07 Changes A third anniversary is marked with solid change in staff. Unfortunately considerable contradictions between Aneris and other members did not allow us to create in the context of one band. Thus another girl (boy?) should replace her. Who exactly? It's a mistery even for ourselves. 23.11.06 Victory Surreal is the winner!!! We have won the Rock Laboratory contest organized by A1 channel, the first Russian alternative channel!! There were 6 groups presented from different town of Russia taking part. Our victory was so unexpected for us, though we knew we really deserved it! Each member of the jury among which were journalists, music critics, well-known musicians, had his own opinion about us, but all were very positive. One critic compared Aneris to Tori Amos who is actually one of her favourite female singers. Well, quite flattering, thank you. The other one said that we should sing in English only, as Russian songs sound strange in our alternative style. Well, actually the only English song we sang there No Man also won as a hit song of the evening! The locals used to either pop-music or heavy metal were pleasantly surprised by the fact that some other music exhists and has the right to! It was one of the warmest wellcomes we have ever received! No way to express the feelings in words, emotions come first and of course, they are very positive! BeZformat was a really great event for the youngsters of the town and we saw how hungry they were for a non-format rock-music by the way they received us and other groups! We will never forget their strong reaction to the rocky Mechanics and a calm Pena Dnei with lighters in their hands! We’ll come back for sure! 14.06.06 Free Art Show The organizers of new generation concerts invited Surreal to take part in their 3rd free-art festival that will take place in B2, one of the biggest Moscow clubs! THANK YOU! 01.06.06 The Big Return Surreal is coming back from a long vacation! Our new drummer is in his full force now and Aneris has come back from her another trip to Europe (Italia bellissima this time!). Now all members are together again and start preparing for a series of performances scheduled in this very section! 29.03.06 Surreal on TV The shooting for the 3rd channel were quite successful. As the result, its shooting group will appear soon at one of our rehearsals, as well as in the office where the lead vocalist currently works. The aim is to show two different faces of Aneris. Moroz left Surreal due to his wish to live without music and support his family with some strange new job. So, we wish him all luck in his new life! Please, write to us at surrr@surrr.com or visit our Guest Book. 09.03.06 Petersburg fiesta SUR’s 3 concerts within 24 hours (4-5 March) in Enchanted City were a real adventure. Our first station, Fish Fabrique received us for the 3rd time and had a usual lousy and cozy atmosphere. The night concert in Manhattan was a bizarre thing for us, but we met quite a warm welcome from the audience and made this nite hot! St. Petersburg is famous for its strange places for making concerts, and another new one this time was the newly opened club Zorro where we played our 3rd SPB concert. The club is made within the factory premises and as a matter of fact is quite big with 1500 of potential audience! The ambitious art-directors plan to invite both Russian and foreign stars for their future gigs. Well, this club really deserves it! The sound is great, the scene is big, just a little bit more comfort and decorations and the club is ready for the radiant future! That was a cool fiesta:) 02.03.06 Radio It was a really great radio go-go in Laboratoria programme on radio Kultura! The atmosphere was very pleasant and agreeable. A new criminal serial to whose soundtrack Surreal has contributed their songs, is starting its evening broadcast on Rossia channel from 27 of February! Lots of luck for your powerful creation! 25.12.05 Sound-track Two of our Russian songs Pena Dnei and Absurd were chosen for a sound-track to a new film “Challenge”! This will be a serial film with a detective story and it will appear quite soon on one of the main Russian channels. 25.12.05 Live The last two concert were especially felicitous. The one in Matrix was with a new indie group Cuty Sark and a radical group Nerf. Cuty’s music is quite close to what Surreal is trying to create, but a bit softer. They even played cover-versions of Incubus and Faith No More. The last alternative group Nerf gave an energetic performance with lots of stage dancing and guitar battles! Art-Garbage is one of the most striking and contrast clubs in Moscow with its red coloured stage, art-statues above the dance-floor and a real cat wondering around the visitors. Surreal was a guest group kindly invited by Vassily K and his group Intelligenti. There is an interesting story behind this meeting. Aneris, the vocalist, was traveling in Scanvinavia last summer and met a Swedish artist Anne Dahlo in Stockholm who told her about Vassily who used to study musical arts in Sweden. Aneris found Vassily in Moscow, gave him the surreal CD, which he enjoyed and here we are on the same stage! It was one of the brightest performances of SUR and hope you will soon be able to enjoy the best pics in our photo section! 23.11.05 Fenix Festival Surreal gave a powerful performance at the alternative Fenix Festival in the town of Reutov, the Moscow region. The idea of the festival was to present a variety of alternative indie music groups making the music they love, but not a mass-oriented pop-rock, so popular in the province. These groups are like the bird of Fenix, which is a positive character from a Russian tale, who always revives even if it is killed… 07.11.05 THE GLOBAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS Surreal took part in GBOB. It was a great experience and a nice short performance. And although we didn’t come to the final, we are quite satisfied for the chance to participate in such a prestigious contest and we will definitely get stronger next year and try our forces again! 07.10.05 THE GLOBAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS In November Surreal will take part in the International music contest GLOBAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS. On July, 2 2005 SURREAL performed at the long-awaited rock-festival in St. Petersburg! The name for it is OKNA OTKROI, which can be translated into English as “Open the Windows”. It is an annual event and it is the 5th festival this year. OKNA is famous for its fair competition in order to show the newest best bands to the big public and famous rock stars on one stage! Thus, this time there were such rock-monsters as Pilot, Korol I Shut, our favourite Tequilajazzz, and other well-known bands. SURREAL performed right before Auktsion who were the founders of Russian avant-garde rock movement and it was a real honour for us! The weather and the atmosphere were so great that it gave us additional energy on the stage, and without boasting, we performed quite well! One of the biggest Russian rock-festivals will take place at the Kirov stadium on July 2, 2005 with headliners like Tequilajazzz, Auction, Korol I Shut, Pilot and other famous, well-know and respected Russian rock-stars. 17.06.05 OKNA OTKROI festival last tour Thank you to everybody who voted for us in the Internet! We are now in the top 20 out of 120 groups! Last Thursday we performed on a final tour of the festival in St. Petersburg in Manhattan club. The club full of people and its exquisite sound made a really outstanding performance. It was a great pleasure also to see other bands playing. We were most impressed by the band Shiva from Ufa. Extremely energetic alternative band. 11.06.05 Studio The work in studio is still proceeding. For the moment, 3 out of 8 tracks have been fully recorded, but not mastered yet. 28.05.05 OKNA OTKROI festival In mid-June we are going to St. Petersburg again in order to take part in the final tour for the annual big rock-festival, which will take place on the Kirov stadium on 2nd July 2005. News archive: 27.10.04 The English version of SUR web-site is launched! 23.10.04 1st of October Surreal Underground participated in the opening of a new night club Unplugged Cafe. The club opened right near the well-known rock-punk club Relax. The Unplugged format is completely different and can introduce the performances of groups from jazz & blues to rock & ska. So, it might happen that the blues lovers can meet face to face with, let's say, Goths. Nevertheless, the place is quite cozy and stylish, and with time it will obtain certain popularity. 4.10.04 Now our music and concert announces are on Realmusic, which is the biggest musical Russian web-site at www.realmusic.ru/surrr. There you can easily vote and support us! 24.09.04 Surreal Underground opened its new concert season in Matrix Club right in the centre of Moscow on the 23rd of September. Two other groups, Sun Forever and Zapovednik, took part in the concert. We were really pleased by our quite a number of hot supporters. During an hourly set we presented our well-known songs and some new compositions, including those, which were not recorded yet. We have recorded two songs from our previous demo and a couple of super brand new songs "Pena Dnei" and "Enchanted City". We need your support! 6 August 2004 - the SUR web-site is launched. 25 July 2004 - SUR passed successfully the selection tour for "Natisk" rock-festival, which will take place on one of the biggest Moscow stages in January! 26 April 2004 - SUR has made its first recording. The event took place at LIGA studio and was made by Sergey Gneushev, well-known for his sound-work with several famous Russian rock bands. With us, it was an inexpensive "one line recording" where vocals and all instruments were recorded at the same time. It could even be called "live", as all songs have been played and sang in only one take.
